DEAN J. BAKER was born in Toronto, divides his time between Toronto, countryside Ontario towns in that area of land affectionately known as 'Cowshit Valley', and a small coastal city in California. Member of Socan, has performed his songs and poems in Toronto and California; edited a book for Joe Rosenblatt; recipient of 2 unsolicited Ontario Arts Council awards; originated 'Poet's Corner' on Q107FM where he did live readings of his poems and prose poems; letters between himself and Irving Layton, who taught Leonard Cohen,and was nominated twice for the Nobel Prize for literature, on file at Concordia University; has over 400 poems and prose poems published since 1972 in over 130 literary publications in Canada, the USA, England, Australia, New Zealand, etc., such as Descant, Carleton Literary Review, Poetry WLU, The Prairie Journal, Freelance, Nexus, Bitterroot, Oxalis, Bogg, Aileron, RE:AL, Art Times, Pegasus, Impetus, On The Bus, and many others. More have been published in newspapers, magazines, online and in anthologies.
Lived in England, Ireland, Italy, Greece, NYCity, California...
I played in rock bands, blues bands a long while ago; and consequently from my mid-teens to now I have met most of my musical and literary heroes - relax, lots of people knew them

Baker ..much to do with the early '70's and later Canadian literary scene, and music internationally, along with personal reminiscences, letters and photos of Irving Layton, Gwen MacEwen, John Newlove, Al Purdy, Milton Acorn, Allen Ginsberg, L.Helm, Van Morrison, John Hammond, Kinky Friedman, and more etc., etc., aided by the fact that I kept diaries through out the entire time .... and about seeing The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, The Animals, The Doors, Janis Joplin, The Who, etc .etc. and meeting some of them..
